What if I am pregnant?
If you are in your first trimester we strongly encourage you to participate only in essential group classes and to notify your instructor immediately as well as your OBGYN to get medical clearance to attend classes.
After 20 weeks we require you to do a private session with one of our qualified instructors to get all contraindications, precautions and modifications you will need to know to have a safe and healthy pregnancy. If you continue to choose to participate in group classes after 20 weeks you must obtain clearance from one of our LEAD INSTRUCTORS to verify you understand the risks involved in movements as well as all necessary modifications to continue to exercise.
Our Prenatal classes are designed to give you a safe understanding of exercises you can do in the group classes with proper modifications as well as exercises and body awareness to observe in all movement patterns as your body is changing. We will also recommend and provide different resources to consider to help with the transitions of body shapes and sizes to provide the safest and most comfortable pregnancy possible. You will learn how to maintain a strong posture, pelvic floor exercises, breathing techniques, upper body and core strength as well as appropriate flexibility and range of motion during a time when your hormone changes can alter your body’s normal flexibility.
After 20 weeks you are only allowed to participate in Essential Level Classes with proper clearance and awareness of all modifications provided by a LEAD INSTRUCTOR.

- Arrive early for a brief orientation
- Let your instructor know it’s your pilates experience and any injuries so they can support you throughout class
- No prior experience is needed, whoever if you are completely new to PILATES we highly recommend starting with the INTRO to PILATES PRIVATE Sessions, which provides you with 3 private lessons to learn the pilates principles and language, your body, the equipment and our studio crew.

What is the best class to start with and how do I know when I can try other classes?
The best place to start is with the ESSENTIAL LEVEL classes and the best time is Now…
Step 1: Our general recommendation is to start with the Essential Level Reformer which will provide a good understanding of our 6 Biomechanical Principles for Intelligent movement which will keep you not only safe but on the path to seeing results quicker, feeling your best and getting the most out of your time and investment.
You will want to stay with Essential for at least 10 classes.
Step 2: From here you will progress to the ALL LEVELS classes where you will start to experience more challenging exercises as well as more difficult choreography. With these classes you will always be offered layers of levels for advancing an exercise so that if you do not want to continue to progress you can find a layer that best fits your body’s needs while learning how to both honor and challenge yourself. Some of our fusion classes integrate the use of multiple pieces of equipment but are indicated as an Essential or All Levels class.
After a good 20-30 classes you can begin to explore INTERMEDIATE +.
Step 3. INTERMEDIATE +. In these classes you will see advanced exercises which will challenge all components of fitness; including strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, stamina, coordination and choreography, as well as the use of additional props. This class will continue to provide layers of options to build up to, however the foundational level of these classes does require a solid understanding and use of the principles as well as no injuries and good body control and awareness.
How many classes are recommended to see results?
Your Pilates practice depends on your personal goals, schedule, and overall fitness level. Most people will see the most benefit from 2-3 pilates classes a week. However, one is better than none! Commit to what you can be consistent in. When you see the results you will be addicted and want to do Pilates everyday!
Do you require socks?
We do not currently require socks, but highly suggest it. We do have socks for purchase.
What is STOTT PILATES and how is it different?
We are so glad you asked. The details are the difference you feel.
Joseph Pilates developed the Pilates method in the early 20th century of over 500 mind body exercises, drawing on a variety of influences, including his own experiences, his knowledge of exercise, and his observations of animals, he called his own work Contrology. Those who still practice this original method refer to it as “Classical Pilates”
STOTT PILATES while maintaining the principles of Joseph’s original teachings of breathing, centering, control, precision, fluidity and concentration offers an evolved and updated anatomically based approach in accordance with modern biomechanics.
STOTT PILATES breaks down the exercises into essential, intermediate and advanced levels to allow for proper progression based on form.
STOTT PILATES focuses on breathing that is related to spinal movements to emulate the natural breath patterns of the body and to utilize the breath for proper stabilization and function to protect the body during movement.
STOTT PILATES emphasizes neutral placement of the pelvis, shoulder girdle, rib cage, cervical spine and hip, knee and ankle for optimal alignment, function, control and execution of mobility and stability.
STOTT PILATES is an approach to movement that started in 1980, a method of training and an elite path of education and instruction. OUR INSTRUCTORS maintain the highest standards of training and are known as the best the industry has to offer.
Not all Pilates studios are created equal. We know you will experience the difference immediately.
Do I need to have Pilates experience to join a class?
While we do offer a variety of levels and our instructors are skilled at providing modifications, suggestions and layers for all ages, stages and seasons of life it can be challenging to meet specific needs during the flow of a class. We recommend that all clients, regardless of experience, participate in 3 private sessions. We offer an Intro to Pilates Private sessions for only $240 for you to not only learn the variety of equipment classes we offer but to set you up for success with the fundamental principles and awareness of the pilates language. This will help you have the correct form, awareness and alignment that is central to a successful pilates practice. The details are the difference in Pilates and we are here to help you learn and feel them. Please read the class descriptions carefully before enrolling in a class and consider scheduling your private sessions for your best Pilates experience.
